About Me
I am a Labour Councillor in West Lancashire District Council. Much of my spare time is devoted to Moorside ward where I represent and to the local party.
I am married to Jude, and we have two children Lily and Joel who mean more to me than anything else.
If you’re interested, I grew up in Abram, Wigan. Went to Holy Family primary in Platt Bridge, St Edmund Arrowsmith secondary school in Ashton in Makerfield, St John Rigby sixth form in Orrell and then Leeds University to study Computer Studies. I stayed on to get a PhD in artificial intelligence (a thesis rather pompously titled ‘a computational theory of handwriting recognition’) and then worked at Essex Uni for a year.
At that point I dropped out of school and finally started working properly, which I’ve done for the past 11 years or so. Jude and I moved from Twickenham back to Up Holland in West Lancs in 2001 and in 2006 we moved across the district to Ormskirk.
I was elected on to the District Council in May 2003. I have been spokesperson for leisure and currently lead on finance for the group.
I need to sleep more, and I need to lose some weight.
